Teen After School Sewing – Working with a Pattern

How to be sure of this class is right for your teen: can they: use a sewing machine and feel confident sewing a straight line?  If not, take a look at our Teen Beginning Sewing Camps.

If yes: and your teen wants to learn to make clothing, this is the class for them. We learn to decode the commercial pattern so it fits and is fun!

Class is 3 Tuesdays afternoons: Sept 17 – Oct 1 3:30 – 6pm enroll here

We learn: to buy the CORRECT size pattern, how to understand the ‘language of a pattern’, how to use all the funny symbols printed all over it and how to install a zipper.

We will also start to tackle the difficult conversations of: style and body shape, fabric texture and drape and how to work a garment with repurposed fabrics.

After three weeks your teen will go home with a garment they designed, made and can wear with pride. AND, the confidence to work a simple pattern on their own.

Class includes 2 hours in the Teen Design program (on a punch card). This will get them in the habit of sewing and thinking about making beyond the class.
